School Performances
Special performances are arranged for students and are presented at the school. Such performances are obtained at a special rate. You will be advised of this rate prior to each performance.
Please support each show, as it is desirable that every student attends.
The show is not only used to enrich and widen the experience of the children but also as motivation for writing, discussions and associated classroom work.
Banking
Children are encouraged to save through weekly banking arranged with the Hume Building Society.
Application forms to open a savings account may be obtained from the school.
Banking takes place each Tuesday.
Library
The Library is currently staffed three days per week with a trained Teacher Librarian. Children are encouraged to borrow frequently. Books should be returned before the due date. Each child must have a library bag to carry borrowed books.

Scripture
The school provides religious instruction each Monday for 30 minutes. Volunteer instructors emphasise good conduct and behaviour together with general religious principles.
Any parents who do not want their child to attend Scripture lessons are asked to advise the Principal in writing.
Music Program
Students have the opportunity to participate in an individual music program. Mrs Deidre Corcoran provides piano, keyboard and guitar lessons and a fee is required each term. These are for half hour sessions.
Toys at School
We do not encourage children to bring toys to school (except for classroom news or special activities, when they will remain in the classroom).
Book Club
Scholastic Book Club operates at Howlong Public School. All orders need to be enclosed in an envelope with correct money and clearly marked with the child's name and class. Orders are collected by the class teachers and handed into the school office. For each order purchased our school collects bonus points.
Excursions
All school excursions are undertaken with an educational goal in mind.
No child can be permitted to take part in an excursion without written consent from a parent. You are urged to sign excursion forms and return them to the school immediately.
At the beginning of the year, a general permission note is required to be signed for permission to leave the school grounds.
Full school uniform is generally required when children leave the school on an excursion.
Charities
The School's foremost charity is Stewart House. This is a holiday home for NSW school children who need a break away from their normal environment for various reasons. The home is fully owned and supported by the children and teachers of NSW Public Schools. Any other Charity appeals are decided in consultation with the principal and staff.
Photographs
Class groups and individual students are photographed each year. These photographs are taken by a specially selected photographer. It is not compulsory to purchase photos.
